XBRL Analysis and Design
Portia is experienced in design and analysis of ontologies that describe semantic relationships between data elements.
Portia often utilise W3C RDF/OWL and other general semantic web standards to specify taxonomies. The corresponding official XBRL taxonomies are generated automatically by means of proprietary conversion facilities between RDF/OWL and XML/XBRL.
This approach makes it easier to manage the sometimes complex relationships that must be represented by the resulting XBRL taxonomies.
The following aspects are also taken into consideration as part of XBRL Taxonomy development
- Create interrelated taxonomies with data elements from different owners.
- Clarify the semantic structure for data elements specified only in plain text.
- Ensure that the taxonomy reflects the capabilities of major vendor systems.
- Maintain both the semantic structure and the presentation order in different languages.
