The Portia XBRL Taxonomy Writer is a tool for writing XBRL taxonomy files based on the Portia OWL semantic structure. The Portia XBRL Taxonomy Writer  helps you keep the focus on the important semantics and releases you from the burden of knowing the knots and bolts of XBRL.

Taxonomies are developed, maintained and updated in the semantic OWL language provided by W3C. The taxonomies as specified in the Portia OWL structure contains information about:

• All information needed to generate XBRL taxonomies
• Relationships between related taxonomies
• All items are specified once and can be referenced multiple times
• File structure information
• Help texts, subtitles etc.
• Layout information

Once the taxonomy has been developed in the Portia OWL structure the XBRL Taxonomy Writer generates the relevant XBRL files.
