Cultural Heritage Information Technology

A seminar on "Convergence in the Digital Age: Challenges for Libraries, Museums and Archives" is sheduled on 13 and 14 August 1998 in Amsterdam with support from the EU’s Telematics for Libraries. Detailed programme of this seminar is now available via the above link.

The seminar is a satellite event of this year’s IFLA General conference which takes place in Amsterdam from 16 to 21 August 1998.

CEN/ISSS Workshop on Cultural Heritage On-line

CEN/ISSS, a recently established initiative in CEN, is creating a workshop to start a European standards activity within the area of Cultural Heritage On-line.

The first meeting of this workshop, dubbed WS/CHOL, will take place on 27th July 1998 in the afternoon at Churchill College, Cambridge as part of the EVA summer school.

You will find details of this workshop at the ISSS Web site http://www.cenorm.be/isss/Workshop/CHOL/welcome.html

Members of ISSS workshops are required to register (there is no charge) and a registration form can be filled in at this site. This enables the secretariat to maintain a register of participants and an associated e-mail distribution list.

The primary objectives of Musea are:

"to study and investigate the standardisation issues corresponding to requirements emerging from the activities related to the storage and on-line access of the Cultural Heritage (ref. SOGITS N884)."

You will find materials provided by this project, a discussion forum, an interactive questionnaire and interesting links to other sites related to Cultural heritage Information Technology.
This site is hosted by Portia System I/S on behalf of the Musea project.
